La Roux Keyboardist Fort Romeau Debuts on 100% Silk

While Romeau may be better known for his synth work in La Roux, it appears that both parties in this beat-led equation are going through stark transformations. Last year 100% Silk entered the public consciousness with their lo-fi, nostalgic House releases, that elevated the label to the ‘best newcomer’ position in many tabloids. Unlike their 2011 output, label owner Amanda Brown has taken on a new approach with this track “Jack Rollin”. While there is still a strong nod towards Virgo, and classic Chicago House, this is a distinctly high-fidelity record, and less about the trendy production values of Silk’s previous output. In true Silk fashion the track starts with this punching beat, that is surrounded by these floating phantom sounds. Over the course of the record, these sonic apparitions build up like a beat-heavy wave  which folds under it’s own weight and engulfs  this soaring vocal sample before  kicking back into the driving beat. Gimme more.  Dig it below:
